Agreeing to these terms

These Terms of Use apply to grindstonestudio.com and to every Android app we publish on Google Play (together, our "services"). By downloading or using our services you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use our services. Google Play's own terms also apply to anything you download from Google Play.

Who we are

Grindstone Studio is an independent mobile app studio. You can reach us at contact@grindstonestudio.com.

Using our apps and website

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use our apps on devices you own or control, and to use this website, for your own non-commercial purposes. This licence lasts until you stop using our services or we end it under these terms.

Books, summaries and GIFs

• Classic books. Some apps contain the full text of classic works. These are offered as reading apps; any introductions, formatting and app features are our own.
• Unofficial summaries. Our summary apps contain our own summaries of a book's ideas. They are not the original books and are not affiliated with or endorsed by the authors or publishers. Book titles and authors' names belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the books being summarised.
• GIFs. GIFs in GIF STORM are provided by KLIPY, a third-party service, and belong to their respective owners. Using a GIF outside the app is your responsibility.

Acceptable use

When you use our services, you agree not to:

• copy, sell, rent or redistribute our apps or their content, except where the law allows it;
• reverse engineer, decompile or modify our apps, or try to bypass their features or protections;
• click on ads you're not interested in, use bots or scripts, or do anything else that generates false ad activity;
• upload or post anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, sexually explicit or that infringes someone else's rights;
• try to access other people's accounts or interfere with the security or operation of our services;
• use our services in breach of any applicable law.

Accounts

Most of our apps don't need an account. Where an app offers an optional account (currently Word Flick), you agree to give accurate information, keep your password secret and tell us if you think your account has been misused. You are responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time by following the steps on our account deletion page. We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms.

Content you share

Some features let you add content, such as a username, status message or profile photo in Word Flick, or feedback you send us. You keep ownership of your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and display it within the app as needed to provide the feature, for example showing top players on the leaderboard. You confirm you have the right to share it. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

Ads and third-party services

Our apps and this website are supported by ads from Google and other partners. We don't control the content of individual ads, and showing an ad doesn't mean we endorse the advertiser. Our services also link to, or rely on, third-party services such as Google Play and KLIPY, which have their own terms and privacy policies. We aren't responsible for third-party services.

Purchases

Our apps are free to download. Some offer an optional in-app purchase, such as a one-time Premium upgrade that removes ads. Purchases are processed by Google Play, under Google Play's terms and payment policies, including its refund policy. A purchase is linked to the Google account you used to buy it, and you can restore it by signing in to the same Google account on another device. Prices are shown in Google Play before you confirm a purchase.

Our intellectual property

The Grindstone Studio name and logo, our app designs, code, graphics and our own written content, including our summaries and this website's text, belong to us and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not use them without our written permission, except as these terms allow.

Copyright complaints

We respect the rights of authors and publishers. If you believe something in our apps or on this website infringes your rights, email contact@grindstonestudio.com with the app or page concerned, a description of the work, proof that you own the rights or act for the owner, and your contact details. We'll review your complaint promptly and remove or change the material where appropriate.

Disclaimers

Our services are provided "as is" and "as available". The books and summaries in our apps are for general information, education and inspiration. They are not financial, investment, legal, medical or other professional advice. We don't guarantee that our services will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of our services or any decision you make based on their content. Our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the amount you paid us for the relevant app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the laws that apply to you.

Changes and termination

We may update, improve, suspend or discontinue any app or feature. We may also update these terms; the "Last updated" date above shows when they last changed, and continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the updated terms. You can stop using our services at any time by uninstalling our apps. We may end your right to use our services if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any mandatory consumer protection laws that apply to you, the courts of competent jurisdiction in India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of our services. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
